Frequently Asked Questions

What Security Signatures Does QuickCheck Scan?

QuickCheck automatically scans four key security signatures built into Australian polymer banknotes: Infrared (IR), Ultraviolet (UV), Magnetic (MG), and density. It checks all four in a single pass.  No manual inspection required.

What happens when a counterfeit is detected?

The QuickCheck flashes red and beeps twice with a clear error alert.

What should you do if QuickCheck flags a suspect note??

If a note is flagged, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the note over and re-feed it : Polymer notes can occasionally misread due to dirt, wear, or orientation.
Re-feeding the opposite side often resolves a false flag.

  2. Re-test up to three times :  If the note continues to flag after three attempts, treat it as suspect.

  3. Politely request an alternative payment method : Let the customer know the note couldn't be verified and ask if they have another way to pay. Keep the interaction calm and professional.

  4. Follow your legal obligations: Under Australian law, businesses are not required to confiscate suspect notes but you must not knowingly re-circulate them. Set the note aside (preferably in an envelop to reduce handling), record the details, and report it to your local police or the Australian Federal Police. Your state or territory may have additional reporting requirements.

What type of businesses is QuickCheck suited to?

Any business that handles cash like retail stores, hospitality venues, clubs, RSLs, gaming venues, and service counters. If your team is accepting banknotes at point of sale, QuickCheck gives them confidence that every note is genuine..

Can the QuickCheck be upgraded when new notes are released?

Yes. QuickCheck is built to evolve with the currency it protects. We work directly with the Reserve Bank of Australia to ensure our detection software is continuously updated to recognise the latest banknote releases and security features. Upgrades can be done quickly and easily using the supplied update cable.
